Therapeutic yoga is the use of the techniques of Yoga to create, stimulate, and maintain an optimum state of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Healing is promoted by increasing self- awareness in the present moment. Breathing exercises, physical posture practice, visualization, and meditation are used to explore thoughts, feelings, body sensations and behavioral patterns in a safe, supportive environment to promote both physical and emotional wellbeing. The traditional use of “talk therapy” is combined with these practices to create a dynamic conversation between the practitioner and therapist. “Yoga Prescriptions” are given for home practice to promote each individual on their path towards physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
